Abstract

Waste is a complex environmental issue that impacts economic, political, and socio-cultural aspects. The neighborhood of Klumprit in the Mojolaban district faces serious challenges related to the widespread distribution of waste, creating an unclean and unattractive environment. This situation poses health risks and concerns among the residents. In this community service initiative, efforts were made to provide a solution by guiding the youth in waste management, utilizing the existing concept of a waste bank. Through this approach, it is expected that the waste in Klumprit can be effectively managed and have high economic value. The waste bank is implemented as a facility to collect, sort, and manage waste with a management approach similar to conventional banks. The community, especially children, enthusiastically participate in collecting various types of waste, particularly plastic, paper, and bottles, to be weighed at the waste bank. They also have a savings book where points obtained from the waste can be redeemed in the form of money. With the presence of the waste bank, it is hoped to increase community awareness about waste management, create economic value from waste, and produce crafts from sorted waste, providing economic benefits to the residents of Klumprit in the Mojolaban district.
